The mirror inside

I close my eyes

Again past the darkness there is an ember

A bright arch of light from behind a charred black heart

long burnt from eyes of others cast in scorn

But these eyes were but reflections of my own

And I see beyond the dark rim

I see a much brighter facade

Where the brightest vines never siezed to grow

I was just the statue that gazed on the barren wall

As I animate with my newly found youth

I venture beyond the horizon of my ancient black sun

knowing that my universe is endless and free

From my  festering past, I am born anew
